As far as deals go, it isn’t that complicated. Dennis doesn’t ask her about her mother, or the boxes full of gymnastics trophies, or what happened between her and Langdon, and in exchange Trinity doesn’t ask how a guy from Bumfuck Nowhere, Nebraska whose whole community was rooting for him ended up broke and homeless in near enough the other side of the country. There are medical schools in Nebraska, after all. Trinity checked.

Samira didn't look at Trinity, didn't want to know what she would see if she did, didn't want to know if she'd see her own grief mirrored in bright green eyes she had only ever known as steady and sure.
