The Beast came into the shelter like this: Eight Spindles, late in the evening, hauling a reinforced steel kennel crate half their size out of the back of the shelter's rickety cargo transport.
"We found this one in the residential area out between twelfth pillar and central district," they said, breezily. The kennel's weight tipped the transport at a dangerously steep angle as they unloaded it. "Apparently it killed some kid's pet lizard that got left out on a balcony overnight. Also blew up a capture box, so that's fun."

Summary
The Spire's sewers are terrible. The Spire's overgrown forest is terrible. The Spire's infested levels are terrible. The Spire's summit is terrible.
Overall. No good, very bad, horrible journey. But, every ascent, the Spire gets two chances to offset just how terrible it is.
This time, instead of seeing that they own a bit less of their soul or leaving them dead tired from an all-out battle before the final leg of the climb, the Spire does something nice for a change.

Summary
While taking a newly-repaired disassembly drone ship out for a spin, Uzi and N discover that reports of humanity's extinction were greatly exaggerated, the universe is a lot bigger than they first thought, and somehow alien eldritch horrors are still not as bad as capitalism.
Meanwhile, after exploring the grisly remains of a destroyed corporate station, Murderbot finds its body going through some deeply unsettling changes. There's no reason to make a connection between this weird, horrifying metamorphosis and the news of a couple of bots wreaking havoc across the Corporation Rim, until there are far too many reasons to ignore.
