Stiles hates hospitals. He’s always hated hospitals. Well, not always (who likes them, anyway?), but since her. Since before -- and now just the thought of them makes him want to retch, gives him that crawling-out-his-skin feeling that makes him want to peel it all off with his fingernails. Which he should really stop biting, he muses, wincing as he tears a hangnail off with a rabid flash of teeth.
Although, technically this wasn’t exactly a hospital. Not for humans anyway. But whatever, Stiles thinks, veterinary hospitals still counted. At least as long as Derek was in that back room screaming like he’s dying, because maybe he is.

Derek felt better equipped now. Stiles’ help had given him enough breathing room to re-orient himself and really accept his new reality as a father. Derek was beyond grateful, but he couldn’t impose anymore.
Stiles, naturally, thought this was incredibly stupid.
“You know I’m not asking you to leave, right?” he questioned indignantly, spoon of mashed potatoes hovering, forgotten, between his plate and his mouth. “Like, have I given any indication that I want you to get out? Truly, because if so, I need to know so I can stop doing it.”
“No, of course not,” Derek said hastily, abandoning his own spoonful of chili (bless Stiles for his somewhat unconventional food combinations that always turned out to be delicious). “I just – it’s time, you know? I really, really appreciate all your help, really, I don’t know how I would have gotten through this first stage without you. But I’ve taken up enough of your time and space.”
Stiles stared at him, clearly unimpressed. “So that’s what this is about.”

He hears the grate of Erica sliding the window open, hears her call after the homeless man, muttering far off now, "Hey! You killed Stiles!"
She sounds vaguely annoyed more than anything.
Derek wants to howl with the agony he's in.
"You bastard!" Isaac chimes from somewhere deeper in the Loft.
Derek feels sick.
He rocks the body in his arms, holds the hand in his over the wound, shakes with sobs he doesn't let free, and wonders how this was the thing who got the boy who runs with wolves? How was it just another meaningless act of violence? How is that fair?
Why doesn't anyone seem to care?
[Or: The one where Stiles gets cursed by witches, keeps dying and coming back to life, and the only one even vaguely cognizant of this is Derek.]
