She just wanted to go out for a walk, and suddenly she has to worry about keeping a stubborn pile of dwarves (and one hobbit) alive. This is stupid and shouldn't be happening, but dammit, if she has the opportunity to tell canon to go fuck itself, she is going to take it.
TL;DR: this is a blatantly self-indulgent and wholly unoriginal 'Modern Girl in Middle Earth' fic.
