He stared at the long, endless road ahead of him and couldn’t bring himself to look behind him. He had heard that voice too often in those four million and one cycles only to find they were nothing but delusions—of course. Of course. What else could they have been? What else could it be now? How could it be anything but his fractured mind trying to conjure some comfort he didn’t deserve in his final moments—
“You sure took your time getting here. Now you can’t even bring yourself to face me?”
After four million and one cycles, the very first Phainon finally passes the mantle of Khaslana onto the next Phainon. The Coreflames had both ravaged and sustained his body, and without them he crumbles to ash. When Amphoreus itself is a lie, the gentle West Wind and Sea of Flowers must be as well. So, that should be the end of his pitiful existence.
Instead, he wakes up in a library—Irontomb’s data archive of previous cycles. And there he reunites with the very first Mydei.

And to reunite with his lover? In the Irontomb, a bank to keep all the coded data of themselves and Amphoreus, of all places, where their previous friends and chrysos heirs and all that they were fighting for is no where to be seen?!? It's SO bittersweet and melancholic and I LOVE IT SO MUCH but GOD does it make one feel things

Or.. Red threads of fate/ hanahaki where Heizou’s destined one is happy with his other half and Heizou decides to cut his own string to not get in the way. (A grave mistake, he assured)

Flushing in embarrassment, Wei Ying hurries over to A-Yuan and crouches to place his hands on his shoulders. “A-Yuan, that’s enough,” he says. “Sorry, Lan Zhan, he used to go to a different bookstore where they host regular storytimes, I think he thinks you’re the designated storyteller for the day—”
He gets to his feet, holding A-Yuan at his hip, and glances up to look at Lan Zhan. It’s an awful, terrible, horrible mistake. This close, every detail of his face is utterly inescapable.
“Story time,” says A-Yuan, lower lip wobbling dangerously.
Wei Ying glances around, finding people staring curiously at the scene unfolding before them. “A-Yuan,” he hisses urgently. “We need to go. I’ll tell you a story on the way home, okay?”
“Do you really need to go?”
Wei Ying starts at Lan Zhan’s voice. He’s still looking steadily at him, an unreadable expression in his eyes.
(Seven years after running away from home to pursue a story that would expose one of the biggest media scandals in recent years, Wei Ying runs into the last person he’s expecting to see at a quaint, forgotten bookstore he hasn’t set foot in for a very long time.)

Wei Ying licks his suddenly dry lips, and continues. “It’s all petty drama, really, and you’ll probably think it’s stupid, hah...” He scratches his head, feeling extremely self-conscious.
“It must have meant a lot to you,” says Lan Zhan, firmly. “And to the people who followed you.”
The people who followed him? More like that single person. His chest fills with warmth as he thinks abruptly of bunny130809 and his bunny icon and his earnest, awkward, achingly sweet words.
“Well, anyway,” Wei Ying says, eager to move on from the subject. It’s making him dizzy, the way Lan Zhan’s voice keeps bleeding into his old follower’s typed words. He’s probably just projecting, and that must say something about him, right? Had there been only two persons in all this time who’d been patient enough to really listen to him, for them to mesh together so seamlessly in his head?
