“Hi,” Ian finally manages, then clears his throat. “It’s Mickey, right?”
Ian’s own apartment door makes a noise as it swings shut behind Trevor, who’s already beelining for the stairs. He glances at it briefly, catching his roommate’s retreating form for only a second before he’s gone.
Mickey never takes his eyes off Ian. “What do you want?”
“Sorry,” Ian says, wincing. “I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
Mickey says nothing, just stares back as he braces one hand against the doorframe. His knuckles spell out FUCK and Ian finds it inexplicably hot.

Summary
As children, their height difference had always been something that made Will’s stomach flip-flop in that familiar, weightless manner. Fluttery, before he had ever known what it meant.
Mike would never loom over him, ominous and terrifying like adults were.
Now, with a few years and a handful of growth spurts between them, the difference isn’t as obvious. If Will stood up at full length, he’d meet Mike’s eye with ease. But Will has never learned how to control himself around Mike. So he makes himself smaller, without really meaning to.
