“Lan Zhan! I didn’t even know you could pull pranks like this. Lying is against GusuLan precepts, isn’t it?” Wei Wuxian laughs, harder than he has in a long while.
He pays little mind to the young Lan disciple at Lan Wangji’s side, too caught up in the absurdity of Lan Wangji having just called him down from the Burial Mounds to try to convince him that said Lan disciple was, in fact, his son from the future. It is a prank - it can only be a prank. And delivered with Lan Wangji’s stoic sincerity? It is just too much, really.

Lan Wangji’s head snaps up to see Wei Ying staring back at him, a slightly tentative smile on his lips.
Lan Wangji’s heart is suddenly pounding and he tells himself firmly that he’s overreacting, overthinking. Wei Ying said it so casually, and that’s how he means it too. Casually. If he means it at all.
“With you?”
Wei Ying laughs a little at that. “Yeah with me. Who else?”
“As a date?” The next question slips out before Lan Wangji can call it back.
To his surprise Wei Ying nods. “As a date.”

He doesn’t look much like the desperate boy she met after the fall of Lotus Pier anymore and yet that same desperation is back in his eyes.
“Wen Qing, I need your help.”
Wen Qing crosses her arms. “You do get that we’re on opposite sides of a war, right?”
“I know I know and I know we said no debts between us and you’ve already done enough for me. I wouldn’t ask but… Just please, come with me?”
