Summary
Celine never expected to lose the love of her life nor did she expect said love to have a son with a demon. But most of all, Celine could've never expected to be saddled with a daughter years into raising her love's child, a half-demon daughter who will become a hunter. This is fine, she can handle this.

Summary
The Honmoon chooses up to three hunters in a given generation, but not all are so lucky to get the full trio. Rumi is this generation's only hunter, but that suits her just fine. After inheriting the duty during an attack when she was 12, she's spent the last 12 years roaming the world hunting down demons to protect the flimsy fabric that separates humanity from this ever-present threat.
She hasn't questioned her duty, not since the beginning when everything seemed so unfair, but her nomadic life has weighed on her for far too long, even if she won't admit it to herself. At least, not until someone forces her to.

Summary
Mira wanted to fix it. Whatever it was she wanted to make it better, needed to make it better, "Rumi, why do you think you're not worth loving?" Her voice wavered at the end.
Rumi's jaw tightened, her eyes focusing on some point in the space between Mira and Zoey, "It's not something that can be explained. It just is. A fact of nature, like how turtles have shells and tigers have stripes. I just need you to trust me when I tell you I'm not worthy of it."
Or, demons impersonate Rumi and Mira kissing in public. Mira spirals, Rumi breaks down and Zoey's insecurities implode.

“Rumi?” Mira questioned uncertainly. The demons had frozen as well, staring at Rumi as she stared back. The tense silence stretched. The hallway felt like the oxygen had been sucked out and the dim lighting cast shadows all around.
“Rumi, there’s no such thing as half demons. We would know. Celine would have told us. It has to be a trick….” Zoey said but it was clear she still had her own reservations.
And what could Rumi say to that? Celine had said she could find no records of any other half demons, not anywhere in the archive. How could hunters have never encountered a single half demon in the nearly 800 years since the honmoon was created? What were the chances they would meet them now, in this generation, when Rumi herself was one? It felt like a trap. It had to be a trap.
But…
“Rumi?”
“She’s bleeding.” She said softly. “Demons don’t bleed.”
