Summary
Martin’s mother’s- Martin’s apartment is empty. Not empty-empty, but empty, meaning his mother- the only other person to ever live here with him- is gone.
Whatever- all it means is that Martin is able to clean now. Isn’t that all he’s wanted for the past however many years? A nice, clean space unobstructed by piles of can’t-get-rid-of and much-too-important junk?
As he sits on the couch, Martin thinks about how he should really get to that.

Summary
Of course, of course, it had to be a Leitner.
When Jon saw Martin holding the Leitner, he spent a moment paralyzed with terror. Martin may not be good at his job, but no one deserves the havoc that reading a Leitner can wreak.
Before Jon could reach him, though, Martin had fainted. Falling roughly to the ground, unmoving.
