Ollie awoke expecting pain. All he’d known these past weeks? months? years? was pain. Ever since Kimi had been caught stealing fish because he was just that hungry, ever since Ollie had taken the fall for it, ever since that first blow fell…
But this time, something was different. The pain was there, yes, but it felt muted, distant. Like viewing a raging inferno through thick, frosted glass. Ollie blinked sluggishly, his eyelids heavy as if weighted with lead. The world around him swam in and out of focus, colours bleeding into one another in a nauseating swirl.
He tried to lift his head, but his body refused to obey. His limbs felt leaden, unresponsive. A creeping sense of panic began to seep through the fog clouding his mind. Something was wrong.

A life pampered of luxury. It was public knowledge that was the fate of a Victor. No such fate awaited Ollie, mutilated to a shell of himself, a skin he didn't recognise, a person he was never meant to be. This wasn't him. This was never meant to be him.
