Fake date Will Byers so they don’t have to be the victims of constant PDA courtesy of the party. Instead they can be the ones subjecting everyone to the 24/7 spit swapping and mushy couples stuff.
(Revenge on the party for season 3 when Mike and El just wanted to makeout all the time even though they were like in middle school)

Summary
The Kingdom of Hawkins was not one sung of in the great halls of foreign empires. But it was warm.
The Byers siblings were loved. Fiercely. And they loved just as fiercely in return. Which was perhaps why the Wheelers and the Toziers were never truly chased away, no matter how much the court whispered.
They grew up together, all of them. Shared tutors, shared meals, shared summers where the families traveled between estates and pretended the world beyond Hawkins did not exist.
TLDR: The idea of Jester Richie x Prince Will was too good not to write and then it sort of took on its own life
