The cry of the Phoenix echoed around the chamber, she was a bird who can pull herself from the cold ashes of death and into fiery new life. Below her was Ouroboros, he was a snake who brought on death by eating himself from own tail to be born again. Both were different but achieved the same results.
Wesker looked to the embers raining down from her feathers, his eyes glowed in the large light overhead. The raw power of her element amazed him, it was all rolled into warmth, strength, and fury.

Summary
Safety was the chain on the apartment door and the deadbolt above it. Safety was the kettle on in the morning, the cheap one with the loose lid that rattled softly as it boiled. Safety was the folded blanket at the end of the couch, Emily’s socks drying on the radiator, the stack of coloring books someone from Victim Services had dropped off as if crayons were equal to the things the child had seen. Safety was the hall light left on through the night because Emily woke crying if the dark settled too completely in the corners.
Safety was routine. Tea, toast, medicine, curtains half open. Questions asked gently. No sudden movements. No men in tactical gear. No bright white corridors. No gurneys. No rooms with drains in the floor.
Grace kept arranging these little objects and habits around them as if she could build a wall from repetition.
The wall held until the thirteenth morning.

Summary
