The sun rises over the treetops and touches Dean’s face, and still, he waits. The villagers have retreated back to the village to pray, allowing the god his privacy, and it is just Dean out here now. He closes his eyes, tips his face up towards the sun and allows its rays to caress his skin, knowing full well that it could be for the last time.
When he opens them again, there is a man standing in front of him.

Summary
When Castiel joines St. Michael's church his task is relatively clear: continue the spread of Christianity in Scandinavia. St. Michael's isn't necessarily failing as a Christian settlement, but despite 200 years of missionary work the people are very loyal to their local gods. Castiel soon learns why when he comes face to face with Dean - a powerful but benevolent pagan god.

That could just be a tale bards tell in hopes of being mistaken for him, though.
