He had been feeling down when Miss Flores had told the class that over the holidays, they were to write something on someone they honored and pointed out to him that it couldn’t be his daddy or papa it had to be someone else. He had really wanted to write about his family and didn’t know who to write about until papa had pulled up the speech he had watched and listened to when he came home that afternoon.

Buck was the single hottest person to ever to walk the earth in Eddie’s eyes, and he’d made his peace with that realisation, but Buck was no longer the hottest single person, he was taken now. He could deal with the fact that the rest of the world hadn’t got that memo. He didn’t need to beat his chest and piss up Buck’s leg to prove it. Most people were obvious with their flirting, and Buck gracefully set them straight, but it was the persistent, insidious ones that Buck didn’t seem to acknowledge that drove Eddie crazy.

Meanwhile, even their Captain saw the matter escalating and summoned Chim to help with breakfast and away from Buck for the rest of the morning by sticking him the side office catching up on his left-over paperwork. Later on, after several small calls with either the engine and RU or just the RU, they got a bit of a break which Buck decided to use as a time to use the gym portion of the station, particularly the bag as he hammered away on it with Jones holding it as best he could with as mad as Buck was, and as hard hitting as he was doing. Mumbling just loud enough that those close to him, including the nearby Chim who thought he could interrupt him again, calling things out like; “Partners, yeah right. In it together. Uh huh. Pinky promises made of water. Together through thick and thin.” All the while emphasizing each word with harder and harder hits to the bag and Jones holding it till, he called out the word “Togetherness,” and the bag flew up with Jones’ feet leaving the ground entirely and landing him in a heap on the floor stunned at the impact. Everyone was quiet at the Retriever, getting actually violent.

Buck watched the angry Lieutenant Han pace as he kept trying to get his phone to work during the blackout that covered LA due to a homegrown terrorist attack where the terrorists wanted ransom money to put the power back on. He knew his uncle Don Eppes over at the FBI building was working the case with his team and brother and that their friend and hottie, Ian, was now hunting those people that did it to bring them in and stop the attack on LA from spreading to other cities around the nation. But he was keeping quiet about it right now as it was confidential business. Chim stalked up to his table where he sat with his forms that needed to be filled out to get a city power charger along with B-Shift’s Ravi aiding him in keeping things civil, as Han threatened him if he didn’t just hand him the charger or “You’ll never see your niece again.”

As the head of the department, shouldn’t these regulations be familiar? Why is she asking Buck about rules that are already in place? Isn’t understanding how things go like, Williams’ entire job?
The other end of the line is quiet for a long minute, only to be broken up by a thoughtful, “Huh. Interesting.”
