    –“Do ya’ think I’m pretty?” Angel locked his eyes on Husk’s, searching those feline amber depths as if they held every truth. They were so close he could see every downturned lash, every grey hair in inky fur. There was an agonising moment of silence where Husk’s brows furrowed and he set his mouth in a hard line, then with a swig of whiskey straight from the bottle, he sighed.

     

    “No,” he said simply, and Angel’s heart dropped to his stomach. He hung his head, lower hands twiddling in his lap as his eyes burned. He wouldn’t cry. He couldn’t. Of course Husk wouldn’t think he was pretty – he wasn’t anything like the men who called him that. The sting of rejection rendered him breathless like a well-placed punch to the gut.

    “I’ll make you a deal,” Ratio says. “You accept my treatment and I’ll grant you one wish.”

    “Now that doesn’t seem mighty fair, Doctor,” Aventurine laughs, “I have to sit through therapy, and I only get one wish?”

    “Anything you want,” Ratio interjects.

    “Anything I want?” Aventurine echoes and Ratio nods.

    Aventurine dares to consider Ratio’s deal. There aren’t many things he wants in this world. Except one. Dr. Veritas Ratio. The one person Aventurine can’t read. The one chip Aventurine doesn’t dare gamble away. Ratio is the one card Aventurine keeps close to his chest. Aventurine wants to be ruined by him.

    “What if,” Aventurine wets his lips, testing the waters. His left hand is hidden skillfully behind his back. It trembles slightly. Aventurine balls it into a fist. “I want you?” He purrs.

    “That can be arranged,” Ratio mutters curtly, his cheeks pink. “Provided you successfully go through my treatment.”

    OR: Aventurine is obviously fine and Dr. Ratio is his therapist.
