"Jeremy!" Jean had yelled. "Jer-"
The chill of the water, the silence under the wave, the oxygen careening into grateful lungs as he tread water on the other side of the breakers, all a blessed reprieve from a conversation he never wanted to have. And then, the wrongness landed in his gut. The cowardice, the guilt, but something else too…
Jeremy had turned towards the shore only to see Jean, fully clothed in waist deep water, a very soggy Jab clutched to his chest. He seemed frozen to the spot, his face betraying his terror as the next set of waves rolled ever closer. Too far away, Jeremy knew, he would never make it in time.

Jeremy looked shocked and outraged. “You’ve been scolding my Doms?!” He exclaimed, aghast. Then he blanched, and his face morphed into righteous indignation. “You’re the reason nobody wants to play with me twice!” He jabbed his finger in Jean’s chest.
“None of them are worth your gift,” Jean retorted, ignoring the finger. “You deserve better. If they were Doms worth their weight in salt, they would know how to take better care of you, and would have put you in your place so you would not dare to say you have had enough aftercare when you so clearly have not.”

Or, Jeremy is having a hard time finding a good Dom at the BDSM club Jean works at, since Jean keeps warning his play partners away after they don't do enough for him. Jeremy thinks if Jean's so certain no Doms are good enough for him, Jean should do it himself. Summary
Rocky had fallen in love with Grace long ago. There were many reasons, even now, not to act on this love. Telling Grace would likely make it uncomfortable and add stress to its already very stressful short life. Their journey to Erid would last under four Earth years, which is practically nothing in the grand scheme of things. Rocky would soon be reunited with all his friends and family, and of course, his lovely bond mate.
All this to say, it would be an unspeakably stupid, selfish, illogical decision to approach Grace romantically. A decision Rocky knows he would regret for the remaining 300 years of his life. He knows he will regret it, and so he makes peace with keeping it to himself. He loves being Grace’s dearest friend. That’s plenty enough to quiet the voices in his head.
One day, while watching Grace sleep, he learns that Grace reciprocates his feelings.
