  Summary

  Diluc came back different. Kaeya had first heard those words whispered in admiration when Diluc made his return to Mondstat after his years away. He was faster, stronger, broader and easier on the eyes. Capable of playing the part of the heroic warrior his father knew he could be.
  Diluc came back different would soon be passed around the city again with concern. What happened to the bright shinning boy the town knew? Where were his unbashful smiles and lively attitude? Where was their little uncrowned prince? Diluc came back different would echo in Kaeya's brain when he saw Diluc again. He seemed empty, hollow, almost despondent. Pyro wielders were a passionate lively group, next to them Diluc seemed more like a cooked vegetable. As distant as Diluc was, Kaeya was sure of one thing. One day, Diluc would break, crumble into disjointed pieces, and Kaeya could only hope he'd still be around to pick them up.

  Diluc did break, shattered quite spectacularly in fact, but what Kaeya didn't expect was to crash and burn right after him. Diluc had turned and smiled at him. A small secret smile and that somehow made everything so much worse. Kaeya wanted so very badly something he didn’t deserve. And Kaeya was so very weak.
