As Archie and Wolfe prepare to take on Zeck, Wolfe is reaching the end of his rope. Archie is trying to intervene without showing that he cares.
Archie mentions that he and Wolfe worked on the false bottom for the briefcase together. This is my idea of how that might have gone down, except I'm adding angst because losing a significant amount of weight in a short amount of time can take a pretty big toll and I love making characters suffer :)
Can be read as platonic or romantic. Nothing any more suggestive than Archie's usual narration, anyways...
