“You really like him, huh? The Blur?” Clark asked. When Lois looked over, Clark’s jaw was tense. His lips set in a firm line. A muscle in his jaw was ticking with each passing second. God how could he be so fucking pretty even when he’s annoyed.
Was annoyed even the right word? Lois couldn’t quite place the emotion written all over his face.
“Me and everyone else.” Lois sighed.
“I’m sure it's mutual.” Clark said softly. Lois was so not fucking in the mood for this conversation.

But it wasn’t her reason for leaving, but her absence itself that ached deep in his chest, in a way he hadn’t been aware of until she strolled into the bullpen this morning. “Call it even?” Lois asked with a small smile playing on the corner of her mouth as she bit her bottom lip. Clark wanted nothing more than to free it from her teeth with his own lips.
“Yeah, Lo,” Clark whispered, smiling softly, leaning towards her unconsciously, desperate to be closer to her even if only a few inches. Her smile widened, blinding him with the brightness of a thousand Christmas trees wrapped in string lights. “We can call it even.”
