    Izuku Midoriya has spent his whole life believing he was quirkless.

    Then, at fourteen, he manifests All For One during a villain attack.
    Ten months later, he inherits One For All from All Might.

    Now Izuku is carrying:
    the most feared villain quirk in history,
    the greatest hero quirk in history,
    and enough self-loathing to destroy himself long before either power does.

    Meanwhile:
    Aizawa Shouta keeps finding himself unable to walk away from one painfully self-sacrificing child.
    Yamada Hizashi adopts Izuku emotionally within approximately five seconds.
    Toshinori feels guilty about not sharing everything.
    Nedzu knows more than he admits.
    And somewhere in the shadows, the man known as King of the Underground discovers that his biological son is alive.

    The problem?
    He doesn’t know whether to save Izuku for the fate all might bound him too… or claim him and show him who he was always meant to be.

    Then his phone buzzed against the desk.

    Shouta turned it over with a deep frown.

    Midoriya Izuku.

    Shouta carefully picked it up, pressing the phone to his ear with a drawn-out, wary, “Hello?”
    There was cackling on the other end—wild, breathless, completely unrestrained laughter spilled through the speaker, loud enough that Shouta instinctively pulled the phone away from his ear to stare at it in alarm.

    “Sen—” Midoriya wheezed, dissolving into another fit of hysterics. “Woah—okay—come on out! Come—you’re—”

    Shouta sat up immediately.

    “Where are you?”

    “Having a beer! Or—” Midoriya snorted loudly into the phone. “Like—jeez, how many have I had?”

    There was a muffled voice in the background that Shouta couldn’t quite make out, followed by another burst of laughter from Midoriya that sounded dangerously like he was about to fall off a chair. Shouta pinched the bridge of his nose, a headache already blooming behind his eyes.

    “You’re drunk.”

    Shouta receives a phone call from a drunk coworker

    Kudou’s breath audibly stutters. “Does it seem that way?”

    Yoichi tilts his head. It no longer comes as a surprise that Kudou is already watching him, pinning him with a heavy crimson gaze that’s much too soft to be considered intimidating. Their hands are resting by their sides, and Yoichi lets his impulses guide him until their fingers brush featherlightly.

    “A little bit,” he admits, his voice dropped to a mere whisper.

    or, rumour has it that the resistance’s leader has a secret soft spot for their latest rescuee…
