Summary
A prequel to the TV show. So...Midnight Cowboy. An Oscar-winning film based on an acclaimed novel about a tall Texan who journeys to the Big Apple in the Sixties to seek his fortune but ends up a two-bit street hustler. Some of those streets include Times Square, 42nd Street—and Greenwich Village. Please tell me I’m not the only one sleazy-minded enough to draw the obvious connection.

Bookmarker's Notes
Probably the best fan fic I have ever read in any fandom. Absolutely brilliant. Obviously one must have an appreciation for this pairing which requires an understanding of the 'show characters' of Mike & Peter, as well as the RL fellas & the tensions thereof. Peter's 'show character' was very different from his RL self. So watch all The Monkee eps as well as some era RL interviews.

Bookmarker's Notes
One of the best Garashir stories out there. Bashir is depicted as flawed & clueless much of the time, with Garak being ever-wise would be my main criticism. My own take on the characters is that they have good & bad facets. Bashir is idealistic, altruistic, & intelligent; Garak is very intelligent as well but more cynical & with a dark past-- which makes them a good pair intellectually but with insecurities & flaws which make for interesting stories.

Summary
"No, it's fine," Julian said automatically. "But, Garak, is everything all right?"
"Captain Sisko wanted to see me," Garak said—which was so conspicuous a refusal to answer the question Julian had asked that it almost didn't qualify as an evasion. He pulled out the chair opposite Julian, and sat.
"Captain Sisko? Why?"
"Well, apparently," Garak said, "Cardassia has lodged a formal request with the Federation for my extradition."
(Or: Garak has a problem. Julian marries him to fix it. Except that means Julian also has a problem, albeit of a very different kind.)

Really wonderful. Garak is to be extradicted to Cardassia & Bashir offers to marry him to prevent that. Great, plausible premise that was nicely written. Characters very in-character. Wish it were much much longer.

Bookmarker's Notes
Good story, though Garak & Bashir seem more like Vulcans than a Cardassian & a Human. Also, lengthy descriptions of provisions & their distribution. A set of 'cute' kids.
