The room was quiet as Deep entered. He’d waved off Noir. He wasn’t supposed to talk anyway, and he doubted Homelander cared all that much whether one or both of them were there to disappoint him.
It wasn’t a completely selfless decision. He knew he’d be taking the brunt of the degradation, and at least this way there wasn’t an audience. He stood there at the door for a couple minutes, waiting. A part of him felt that maybe he should knock, that maybe Homelander hadn’t noticed him come in. Another part of him felt that maybe he should just leave, because of course Homelander had noticed him come in. Heard him most definitely, maybe even smelt him.
