Bioluminescent algae clung to the walls in soft, blue-green patches, providing an eerie, beautiful light. In the centre was a deep, still pool, fed by some hidden channel to the sea. And in the centre of that pool, resting on a flat, dry rock, was him.
He was breathtaking. Human from the waist up—all taut, golden-brown skin, broad shoulders, and a face of sharp, beautiful angles. But from the hips down… eight powerful, flexible tentacles, their colour shifting like an oil slick in the dim light, rested in the water or curled against the rock. They were sheer muscle, adorned here and there with delicate, fin-like ridges.
His head tilted, brown eyes almost innocent in the dim light.

Summary
