Oxford, 1946. The war is over, but the shadows it left behind are not.
Galadriel, wrecked by loss and haunted by the things she's seen as a combat nurse, returns for her final year to finish what she started before her world fell apart. Halbrand, battle-scarred and a chip on his shoulder, comes back with the same goal; wanting to complete his studies in peace.
But peace is not so simple. The tides of fate bind them together and what begins in tension slowly unravels– two wounded souls navigating class divides, post-war grief, and the terrifying realization that their connection is something deeper than they ever expected.

Lately she has been wondering if Nenya was the only thing keeping her warm all those years.
Her bones ache and creak. There is nothing but an empty rattle to her lungs. Her heart may as well have left her.And his presence alone has her ring burning with life upon her finger once more. She feels rage and confusion and grief like fire in her stomach. Her words bubble up her throat, spiteful and sharp as flames. It warms her through and though she resents it, she can feel the beginnings of purpose twitching to life in her veins. Because she does not know where she wishes to go. What she wishes to see.
But she knows what he must.Galadriel does not sail into the west. She cannot bring herself to. Alone, she encounters a lost man piecing together his own fractured identity and wishes to make the both of them hurt.
