Summary
“Maybe he thinks you’re cute.”
Maeve eventually looks up at John, smiling at his stammering attempts at a rebuttal. He’s red in the face, eyes wide and shaky with the idea.
“Wh—no, no, why would he think that?”
“‘Cause you are?”
“Yeah, obviously,” he retorts, “But why would he think I’m cute?” It doesn’t make sense to him, there’s only ever been hostility between the two, especially since the locker incident. They’re entering November soon, and it’s been two months since William Butcher joined their school. Throughout the entire time that John has known him, not a single day has passed where they haven’t exchanged some form of acrimony.

Summary
“My powers are quite bloody strong, twat.”
“Please, I could easily take you.”
“I almost beat you at hero—“ Homelander snapped his head around, glaring at Butcher before he could finish.
“You caught me off guard, AND you needed two other people, Homelander retorted smugly, and Ryan continued to giggle at the childish behaviour of his fathers.
“Well, I’ve got different powers now, and we haven’t had a rematch.”
“Didn’t stand a chance then, won’t stand a chance now.” Homelander took a sip of his glass. “Isn’t that right, Ryan?”
“Yeah!! You’re the strongest hero ever, Dad!!” the boy said, earning a warm smile from Homelander.

Summary
After the phone call, Homelander stands him up again. For a week straight, in fact. Billy's not worried. Nope, not at all.
Not until a retired Supe shows up with some unbelievably shitty news: the bastard's been mind-whammied, and is being held captive in Vegas, playing zombie to some random mafia bitch. And as much as Billy definitely doesn't want to, he gets talked into coming to the rescue.
Homelander swoons more than a little, and has some very tempting ideas about how to thank him...

Summary
"Is this how she felt?" Billy demanded, wrapping his hand around John's throat and forcing his head back to a sickening degree, nearly snapping it backward to look at him.
He had gone, perhaps, a bit too far with this, but he would be damned if he stopped now. He was drunk on it—the sweet catharsis of revenge and justice. Was it really justice, though, if the vengeance neared outweighing the original crime?
