Summary
The first launch happens with a crew of three: Captain Yao, Pilot and Engineer Olesya Ilyukhina, and Scientist Ryland Grace. But after finding out that two out of the three had died before they even made it out of the solar system, Eva Stratt sends a smaller vessel with one person aboard, you. A physicist with some mild medical training is sent out to rescue the mission (hopefully), being launched a couple of months later.

Simon is suspended in an ocean of blood, his skin boiling and reshaping and blistering and crawling with the most awful sensations all at once. Flesh and bones snap and crack, viscous red adhesive holding his shattering skeletal structure together. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts so much, so much he wants to scream, but the blood that has clotted in his body prevents him from doing so. There is nothing, absolutely nothing he can do, but endure this gross metamorphosis.
Or: while saving the stars of different solar systems, the eridians come across the blood moon. The SM-13 has been taken back to Erid. New friend for Grace, yay!! He's human enough, they should get along. Hopefully.
