Summary
After the Angel-infected Unit-03 brutally defeats Asuka and Rei, Shinji comes to a very serious realization. However, the next angel will challenge everything he has come to feel and push him farther than any human should have to go.
This is the first fic I ever wrote. I initially put this up on ff.net back in May of 2011, and worked on it off and on until early 2013. I was initially happy with how I ended it, but I left it marked incomplete because I always intended to add to it.
Well, I finally did...
Eight years later, in January of 2021. I regained some of my passion for writing Eva fiction thanks to the release of the trailer for Rebuild 3.0 + 1.0, and I decided to finally add the final touch to this story.
What follows is the story as it was written. The only differences are certain chapters are combined, as that made more sense after a re-read of what I'd written.
Fair warning, this contains a good bit of OOC, and the first few chapters are... Not great. This was the first story I ever really put effort into, and I had no idea what I was doing. I think it gets better as it goes, as I kind of figure some stuff out.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this WAFFY Asushin tale

He was dying. There was nothing he could do to stop it but just maybe he could have a second chance at his life. He wouldn't run away this time, never again.
9/6/21: I went back and did some minor and major edits on some of the earlier chapters. Mostly just grammar and adjusting some scenes that I felt needed more fleshing out. I may not have gotten to everything but for the most part, I highly recommend going back and rereading some chapters. Don't worry, you won't be lost if don't go back.
