“Fuck, Buck,” Eddie muttered against his skin, his voice rough and strained. “You smell… good.”
Buck’s mind was spinning, conflicting emotions rising in his chest until he felt like he would explode. The alpha in him wanted to growl and nip at the older man’s audacity. To treat him like a potential mate? To look at him like he wanted to swallow the younger man whole?
This wasn’t normal. Alphas didn’t act like this with each other, especially not during a rut where the instinct to mate was at the forefront of their minds.
And yet.
He couldn’t bring himself to pull away.

Summary
The past two weeks had been a hellish cycle of ‘was it me’s and ‘how could she’s, imagining her happier and laughing along with another man as he laid awake in his empty room and even emptier bed. He imagined showing up in front of them, intimidating some wife stealing, ugly fucking coward.
The man in front of him was far from ugly. He was tall and broad shouldered, with swoopy blond hair and a boyish smile.
“Hi, I’m Evan Buckley. Eddie, right? Shan’s husband?” A pause, like he was debating something. “You can call me Buck,” he decided with a blinding smile.
Eddie stared at him, torn between ‘wow he’s beautiful’ and ‘where the fuck did Shannon picked this one up’ because yes, he was an attractive man, but he also had this cheery, boyish energy that was a far cry from her usual type— him.
OR
Eddie wasn't sure what to do when he couldn't stop staring at his wife's boyfriend's ass.

Buck would like it stated for the record that he is exhausted from dealing with unwanted whispered memories and the ghost feeling of hands on his body but he’s trying. Buck knows Eddie is worried about him. He’ll catch Eddie’s gaze on him throughout the day and it’s usually pinched with concern. It makes Buck sick to his stomach that he put that look on his boyfriend’s face. He knows the thoughts, the memories, are getting louder again. He knows it worries his boyfriend, and his family, when he gets like this. Becoming mute was partly a survival skill and partly because his parents ignored him until they needed things from him. But they weren’t the type of parents to need their lawn mowed or garbage taken out, they had people for that. No, Buck was used for something far darker than most can imagine.
