“Reg?” Sirius asks. “What’s going on?”
For the briefest of moments, Regulus looks at him — really looks at him — and the red rims around his eyes twist like a knife in Sirius’s gut. Then Regulus blinks, and he’s made of marble.
“I am not leaving,” he says.
Sirius foolishly hopes that he misheard. “You’re… what?”
“I am not leaving.”
No hesitation. No humor. No crack to sink his fingers into.

Sirius plans to grab his brother and run far away from Grimmauld Place. The problem? Regulus refuses to leave. The solution? James Potter.

Summary
“Not good,” Remus said tightly, already reaching for his wand.
“Bloody hell,” Sirius muttered, eyes wide.
Before anyone could react further, three sigils tore free from the page like molten brands. It floated in the air before James, Lily, and Regulus. The light engulfed them, wrapping around their figures in blinding arcs.
“Don’t move!” Lily shouted, even as her outline blurred in the glow.
Regulus tried to wrench himself free, but the magic caught him fast, pulling him upright. His glare shot toward James through the searing light. “This is your fault—”
And then the glow swallowed them whole.
The dormitory vanished.

Summary
At 15 years old Regulus Black has never really felt safe at home. He's long endured his mother’s blatant abuse, his father’s apathy, and more recently the absence of his older brother Sirius, leaving him to navigate his difficult home alone. Regulus is prepared to keep enduring or die trying but after a small moment of rebellion, namely sneaking out to a party, Regulus finds himself reaping the consequences of a reckless night with James Potter.
He can't die trying anymore. Because he's got another life to care for now. One that he won't let his parents tarnish. So he runs. Hopping from sofa to sofa of friends and kind people, trying to figure out how to get his life back on track.
~Basically a Trans Regulus Black fic in which he navigates a teen pregnancy and difficulty finding a stable home, and learning to accept help when it's offered~

“Suppose you want to do something else?” Potter asked, ignoring Regulus’s flustered expression and holding out his hand.
“I…” he almost said no. Normally, he would have. But maybe it was the combination of being in a boring place in his book, mourning the loss of his childhood ignorance, and the James Potter of it all that made him hesitate. He blinked. “Alright,” he sighed, reaching up.
When their hands connected, his heart flew like a hummingbird.
