Summary
Simon’s gaze travels out the front wall, transparent and giving him full range of sight of the beach.
On the other end, he can spot Grace, laughing at something as his final class is coming to an end. He can almost hear the sound of the laugh as it entangles into that of the breeze and the waves. Rocky and Adrian walk along the beach by his side, all talking together about something he can’t make out from here.
Simon’s eyes flick back over to the tree on the opposite side of the greenhouse. “I know. I’m trying.” Simon inhales deeply as he draws his arm across his chest to rub his other shoulder. “I just…”
As he trails off, the room is filled by the sound of dripping water and rustling leaves again.——

Summary
Space was supposed to be a dream for most, something of comfort on a dark night. Something to gaze upon and fantasize about. A hidden wonder of the world just out of reach.
But it was also vast, and a holder of secrets. A cosmic entity that held the answers for those who went looking, and a danger to those naive fools who were forced upon it.
But maybe unlucky chance was destiny, and who was to mess with that?

Or: Your typical Grace meets Simon and they live happily ever after in their human exhibit on Erid. Be prepared for heavy existential angst, lots of platonic cuddles, a healthy dosage of Eldritch horrors on Simon's part, and Rockys best attempt to see that his new friend and pet human lives long enough to see his life through.
Based on my typical writting expect this piece to be anywhere from 150k-300k words, but we shall see since I only have a vague idea of where it will go.

But that never came.
Instead, after a second Grace came back on the line, his voice sounding determined now. “Alright,” he said. “Hang tight.”

Grace starts feeling suspicious and like he's being left out and kept in the dark by the Eridians, who start building a new biodome right next to his. He could never guess what the "surprise" the Eridians keep mentioning actually is, though.
AKA The Eridians introducing Grace and Simon like zoos introduce two animals of the same species - slowly but surely.
