Summary
It is a common myth that soulmates have to be lovey dovey and romantic. A myth that has been fed and nurtured since humanity’s dawn by legends, tales, stories, and in the current world, movies. The reality is sometimes different though, in the way that reality often is.
Unfortunately when you have someone raised on stories intermixed with traumatic conditioning to be a legendary hero, their ideas can be a little… Off.
Hughie Campbell is the poor sap living with the results of this in Homelander.
Somehow in between Vought, the press, the Boys, and the kidnapping thing, Hughie becomes the adult his soulmate and his self absorbed team of supes needed to be a family

Summary
Homelander found himself fighting against it, despite the sweet sensation of serenity. The rate at which he was lulled into a mild trance was almost alarming. He was losing control, eyelids growing heavier by the minute the more he took it all in. For the first time in years, he felt truly relaxed. His mind was entirely blank, Hughie’s soft voice neutralising the venomous thoughts that constantly poisoned his mind. He never would have thought something so simple would give him comfort.
tldr: Homelander discovers Hughie's ASMR channel and becomes obsessed.

Summary
Homelander. Flat white with a hint of lavender. He's always lurking nearby as she's preparing the shop to open, but waits varying times before coming in. Tends to use his X-ray vision on whatever book he's pretending to read to watch her as she works.
Billy Butcher. Dirty chai latte. Never in before noon, sometimes shows after closing. The shop's door is unlocked for him regardless of how late he stops by. Has a soft spot for the cookies she makes using her grandmother's recipe.

'Kindred Spirits Café & Bookstore' is owned by a low ranking Supe with the power to see through time. She's of no interest to Vought due to her ability's short range and that suits her just fine. She's content with her cozy little role in the city, providing others with their new favorite drinks and book recommendations she knows they'll love. Unfortunately, two men more different than night and day seem hell bent on pulling her into a world she no longer has a desire to be apart of.

Hughie has only glimpsed Supe kids. Stillwell’s kid and Ryan, who's always looked more like Becca than Homelander. Which is kinda funny. If anything, it’s John who looks more like Homelander, practically a spitting image—
Hughie’s hand freezes. Blond strands spilling between his fingers. He takes a second look at John.
No. There's no way. Impossible. But how many Supes with x-ray vision and super-hearing can there be?
What's she like? She a good fuck?
“Oh god.” Hughie tears himself away, scrambles to his feet. A cherubic face, eyes closed in sleep, hiding blue eyes Hughie has realized he's seen before.
