It has been 1 year since the impending ice age was overturned. 20 years since Ryland Grace stepped foot on true soil and 10 years of time dilation resulting in his life on Erid
Earth hails the hero it never got to than and Erid provides for its hero the best it can. But the like between human wants and needs is blurred at the best of time. People wonder if Dr.Grace could still be out there - waiting. Dr.Grace wonders if there’s anything else for him besides barriers of non contact.
A previous student, sparked into movement by his influence of the past, may be the answer for them both.

There’s not much to do at his desk except stare at the clutter on its surface, so he gets up and does the habitually teacher-move of walking up and down the rows of tables.
Mikey has broken his pencil clean in half. Again.
Grace pulls his own pencil from behind his ear and slides it onto the boy’s desk. He rubs the side of his head where the pencil had been pressing and straightens his glasses. The teacher contemplates putting on one of those 15-minute video timers on youtube that make a huge exploding sound when the time is up.
Feeling a tug on his shirt, he glances down. He knows it’s bad manners to do that instead of asking for a teacher’s attention, but he’d rather be poked and prodded than make a shy kid cry.

Colt swallows hard. It feels as if half of him has been torn off. Launched into space and never to return. Gone forever. Ryland. He was a middle school teacher just two years ago, now he's in space?
"He didn't... he didn't even speak to me."
