Summary
He can’t breathe.
The tail yanks, and suddenly his back is slamming into the hard ground, the impact detonating every wound. He feels it all, and it’s agony. Ripping, shredding. The worst pain he’s ever known.
His heart stutters and kicks in his chest as his mind screams at him to get back up, to run, to do anything to survive; but he can’t. He’s pinned down, spread eagle on the dead ground, a storm of wings and teeth closing in.
Red lightning flashes above him, bathing everything in crimson, reminding him that he is in literal Hell.
He’s being eaten alive, and all he can think as the pain starts to blur is, I’m not ready.
Please. Not like this. Not now.
Please.
And then, from somewhere above all the madness that has become Eddie’s entire existence, a shape plunges into the wild fray. A human shape. An avenging angel, wielding a weathered baseball bat filled with bloody nails like it's a prayer in the dark.
An answer to his silent plea.

Summary
It’s far too noisy in here, almost like a physically oppressive thing. It makes Eddie’s skin feel funny, like it’s too tight and wants to vibrate right off his body.
It’s way better at the bar, away from the dance floor. Too close to the speakers and the music rattles Eddie’s chest, makes it feel like his heart is pulsing to the music. The air in his lungs is thudding along with the beat. It’s bearable, for a little while, but Eddie’s been here for a couple of hours now and he can feel himself hitting his limit. He keeps one hand in his pocket so he can pull on the loose strands there; letting them slide against the pads of his fingers, again and again. He wriggles his toes in his boots; it gives him another sensation to focus on.

At the same time, the boy hoists the bottle up again, wraps his pink lips around the rim, and takes a swig, then intentionally sticks his tongue out—and fucking hell. He has a tongue piercing, the silver catching the light against the pink of his tongue. It’s obscene, is what it is. The guy grins widely when he knows he has Billy’s attention. He very deliberately licks a stripe up the neck of the bottle to its rim, then tightens his lips around it and gently sucks on it, eventually making a show of pulling it out of his mouth with a pop, choosing to wink at Billy for the finale of his little spectacle. Never breaking the eye contact. Tilting his head toward some less crowded corner of the room, the guy slips through dancing, sweating bodies, leaving Billy just incredibly amused.
…Huh. That’s the clearest sign Billy’s ever received in his entire lifetime.

Summary
The earth outside looked sick. Scarred, blemished with vine growths that pulsed faintly. “…what,” Billy whispered.
Harrington was standing a few feet away, bat clenched loosely in his hand, shoulders slumped as if something vital had been ripped out of him. His face was pale, eyes wide and unfocused, mouth slightly open.
He looked destroyed. Like someone who had just watched their worst memory crawl back out of the grave.
Billy took an involuntary step toward him. “Harrington?” The Alpha didn’t respond at first. His gaze was fixed on the windows, on the blue-lit wasteland beyond, his breathing shallow and uneven.
“No,” Harrington said finally, voice hoarse. “No, no, no…”
He dragged a hand down his face, staining it further with grime. His scent had shifted completely now—sharp panic undercut by something older, painful. “This isn’t—” He swallowed hard. “This can’t…”
Billy’s chest tightened. “What…?” he asked again, barely audible. Harrington looked at him then, really looked. And whatever he saw on Billy’s face—fear, fury, raw survival—it made his expression crumple.

And so what if a habit has formed? Not like there's anyone around who cares that he's withering away.Steve wants nothing to do with Eddie. He's exhausting. Draining. Toxic as shit. He's not sure why Robin cares to look after his addict ass all the time.
He kind of resents that she expects him to pick up the babysitting when she leaves the state.
Really shows that nothing has changed in the last year.
