Eddie knows he’s taking on too much, but breaks aren’t an option when the entire house depends on him, when compromising might mean losing Volt, and being alone again. So, he keeps going, pushing himself, and hiding his exhaustion from his lover, convincing himself that he only needs a little more time to make everything stable.
Then he meets the human, and as Eddie’s feelings for him grow, he is forced to face the truth about himself, and consider the only solution he has left. He will have to find it in himself to risk the leap, and trust that there will be someone there to catch him after all.

Summary
Volt's hand on his shoulder lowers to his bicep gently, caressing his way down with a certain intention, sending goosebumps down an exposed arm. With such a small action, somehow the room felt even more stuffed than before, the warmth from Volt’s body resting heavily on his back, as if they were right next to a boiler rather than a breaker box. Eddie naturally extends his neck more to the side, accommodating Volt’s intrusion. Volt’s cheek briefly nudges Eddie’s as his pointed nose finds a space between neck and shoulder, inhaling a scent that has him becoming more handsy, pulling Eddie closer if it's even possible. A part of Eddie tries to focus what’s in front of him; his job, as a pair of lips makes their way to his pulse point, heart beating just a bit faster than before. He doesn’t shake Volt off when a string of saliva cools a spot on his neck, moving to the next unmarked patch of smoldering skin. In fact, Eddie leans back a little further, pretending to ponder before replying to Volt’s unanswered idea.
“Hit it.”
