Summary
Roach is killed by Shepherd, a gunshot and fire crowding his lungs as he dies beside the man he loves. That should have been the end, but it wasn't. Instead, Roach finds himself reborn into a new life, with all of his memories from the first intact. Haunted by his old life and the memories of his lover, Ghost, Roach tries to navigate this new life and find his way back to the people that he cares about. Summary
When Soap keeps coming back from leave covered in bruises, it's clear there's something wrong. It's down to Ghost to figure out what's going on - and how to help Soap. Except the heavily redacted report is all a lie and the emotional scattering of his ashes is all an act.
This is the story of how he survives, how the 141 fake his death, and how he recovers - with Ghost right by his side.
A realistic fic about Soap recovering from a traumatic brain injury and discovering which parts of himself are left, and which parts Makarov stole from him. Full of hurt and comfort, angst and humour, this is a slow burn Ghost/Soap getting together fic with a happy ending.
