Summary

When Steve is the one to come to Eddie’s rescue in the Upside Down as his end seems nigh, the following weeks find them often together in a musty RV as Eddie recuperates from his wounds. Shaky trust turns to cautious friendship, and then more. For all the shit he's seen in his life, it's high time Eddie won the heart of a true white knight.

Screamed as his flesh was torn apart, heard Master of Puppets in the distance and held back tears. Felt Max’s cold, small hand in his as she laid in the hospital bed. There are things that always happen, no matter how hard he tries: El doesn’t arrive in time. Eddie dies. Max is put in a coma.
Steve fails. They lose.
“Steve, how many loops have you been through?”
His head is nodding, and his eyes are watery, and Eddie has approached him like a spooked animal.
“I lost count.”

Summary
Eddie Munson awoke in the Upside Down to find not only that he had been left behind, but that something was… very wrong with him. He scrambles to find the only familiarity he can in hopes it will lead him to someone who will know how to help. Or, at least, assure him that he’s really alive.
This fic starts right after the events with Vecna, beginning that night and continuing into the two day time skip. This is a mirrored fic with @outofmygourd 's fic "Make Me Feel Like I Am Breathing". This is Eddie's POV, they are writing Steve's POV. We intended for the reader to alternate between chapters while reading (for example, read my chapter one, then read their chapter one, and continue on like that. or vice versa.) This is not necessary, if you would prefer to wait and read all of one you totally can, but things will make more sense if you read both POVs the way we intended.
