Summary
During the Wars of Liberation against France, Gilbert follows a phantom pain to a secluded monastery in the Rheingau where he finds the comatose boy: Ludwig; though the Holy Roman Empire is dead in name, Germany persists as a physical remnant of a people yet to be truly unified.
Gilbert recognizes the opportunity as a way to secure Prussia’s place in a post-Napoleonic Europe. He brings Ludwig under his wing, shelters him, breaks and rebuilds him as his greatest creation. But for Ludwig, becoming Germany comes at a cost. Raised amid war and relentless expectation, he learns to surrender poetry for obedience, memory for purpose, and doubt for duty, until the question is no longer who he was, but what he is being forged to become.
tl;dr: A historical, canon-divergent retelling of Germany’s nation-building process, spanning the Wars of the Sixth Coalition to the failed March Revolution, in which their relationship develops into a compulsive, unsettling intimacy, mirroring a unification that binds as much as it consumes.

A series of historical one-shots exploring the complex relationship between Germany and Prussia during the 19th century, following Ludwig as he grows from a young teen into adulthood. Canon-divergent! It's my creative playground where I experiment with story ideas (especially re character development). I’m currently working on my first long-fic like ever, which will explore the same time period and concept, but in greater depth, giving the characters and their motivations, their wants and needs and space to breathe.
What to expect here: Germany, still in his adolescence and struggling to define himself, yearns for recognition as his own nation — but Prussia has other plans. Determined to mold the boy into his ideal vision of a nation-state, Prussia exerts relentless pressure, stifling any spark of independence or revolutionary thought before it can take root. Yet, quiet character moments happen - even between these two bullheads.
Tags and warnings will be updated as needed. I try not to over-tag, so I choose tags that best reflect the overall theme of the one-shots. Most one-shots are high tension and conflict-loaded. Characters appearing differ from story to story.
