Un sigaretto pendeva pigro dalle dita del mago, mentre il suo aroma si mischiava dolcemente a quello del tè. Quarantadue anni son troppi per decidere di smettere. Oltretutto, sono indispensabili per superare giornate come queste.
La giornata appena passata era stata estremamente stressante: la famiglia si era riunita. Solo i parenti stretti, ma abbastanza da riempire Grimmauld Place. Zia Melania era così entusiasta: dopotutto Sirius era il suo dolce principino. Il buon umore di zia Melania era talmente coinvolgente che nemmeno le malignità scambiate tra Lucrezia e Walburga erano riuscite a intaccare l’atmosfera di attesa. A tavola, il piccolo Regulus era riuscito a impressionare Pollux, più di quanto suo fratello non fosse mai riuscito a fare.
Se la giornata non fosse improvvisamente peggiorata, sarebbe stata la prima riunione di famiglia senza maledizioni svolazzanti. Invece Sirius Black era stato smistato in Grifondoro. Il primo Grifondoro da… No, non esisteva alcun Black che fosse mai stato smistato in Grifondoro prima.

A cigarillo dangled lazily from the wizard's fingers, its aroma mingling sweetly with that of the tea. Forty-two years are too many to decide to stop. Moreover, they are essential to get through days like these.
Yesterday had been extremely stressful day: the family was reunited. Only close relatives, but enough to fill Grimmauld Place. Aunt Melania was so thrilled: after all, Sirius was her sweet little prince. Aunt Melania's good humor was so captivating that not even the malice exchanged between Lucrezia and Walburga had managed to affect the atmosphere of expectation. At the table, little Regulus had impressed Pollux more than his brother was ever abled to do.
If the day hadn't suddenly gotten worse, it would have been the first family reunion without fluttering curses. Instead Sirius Black had been sorted into Gryffindor. The first Gryffindor since… No, there was no Black who had ever been sorted into Gryffindor before.

It shouldn’t be something unusual—it’s probably time for Sanji to change his bandages, and Zoro is simply helping—but it is, because Zoro touches Sanji with tenderness she never expected he’d have. Delicate, feather-light; almost hesitant.
Zoro is holding Sanji’s hand in his, thumb brushing the inside of Sanji’s wrist—a small, quiet gesture—and Nami’s breath snugs in her chest.

“Anyway,” Zoro continued amid Sanji’s silence, “I’m not going to die.”
Sanji made a scoffing sound. “You can’t just decide that, asshole,” he said, tying off the thread. He trailed his fingertips over the jagged seam, checking for any imperfections. “You can’t cheat death.”
“We’ll see.”
To Sanji, Zoro is an enigma. An infuriating one, but one he is drawn to nonetheless. For as much self-assurance Zoro appears to have, Sanji has about as much self-doubt. If he can just understand what goes on inside that mossy head of his, maybe he can figure a few things out about himself as well.
Discovering that there might be something other than rivalry brewing between them, is something Sanji isn't quite prepared for.
