"You are not a burden, Neuvillette. You are a gift."
For seventeen years, Neuvillette has tried to make himself small. With his silver hair, scales, and unnatural abilities haunting his steps, he finds safety in the shadows of the Vaelthryn Basin. He is content to be a ghost, weaving baskets and avoiding the warmth of the community that raised him.
But the water in his cup is trembling. The forest has gone silent. And the merchants who whispered insults weren't just passing through
The sanctuary of the Basin is about to break, and the hunters are coming for their prize.
In other words, Neuvillette's dragon nature has been discovered by people who wish him harm and he is captured and sold, mistaken as a high siren. In his captor's household, he meets a charming foreign Duke who provides him with a warmth he thought was lost. But not all fairytales end with happy endings and Neuvillette needs to survive himself first.
