Summary
Even Stede’s composure was slipping, his breath ragged. “Such a sweet little kitten for me.”
Ed squeezed his eyes closed as a wave of pleasure shivered through him at the words. Made his stomach clench.
Because fuck.
Look at him, bent over a table, getting railed so tenderly he cried.
Fuckin’ Blackbeard was someone’s sweet little kitten.
The thought took him totally by surprise, and Ed came on the spot with a gut-wrenching sob.
And that was. Well. That was something he should probably unpack at some point, right?
**
Historically, Ed has not enjoyed it when people want to fuck Blackbeard. Not just fuck him, but fuck him. To be the person who gets Blackbeard on his knees. To make the legend beg, make him whimper and cry.
And then came Stede Bonnet.

Summary
Ed Teach's new neighbour is a cute stoner. When Ed's invited over for dinner, he also realises Stede is completely insane. Who the fuck grows weed in an apartment and why is it so good? Basically 7K+ of recreational drug use and filth and a confident Stede helping Ed relax.
“Too much?” Stede asks.
“Fuck no.”
“Good.”
Stede grabs him by the bare ankles and pulls Ed closer to him and the mattress edge. Stede all but manhandles Ed’s legs back up over his shoulders. Ed was wrong before.
This is where he dies.

Summary
The show itself is a mess. In the show summary its setup is this: Bonnet reads a bedtime story and his co-hosts do various characters to support his narration.
Ed thinks that seems pretty straightforward; not hard to fuck up.
The posted podcast is nothing like that. It’s about 30 minutes at the beginning of Bonnet and the co-host talking or bickering or gushing, or Bonnet info dumping about some interesting thing that's caught his attention recently.
The last 30 minutes is the actual story — and Ed’s only ever made it about 10 minutes into that part before passing the fuck out.
It’s great.
Ed’s new fucking favorite thing.

Summary
Ed can hear birdsong. Birdsong signalling that something in the ecosystem has shifted, dramatically. In a way that was impossible to notice when you’re immersed in it. And it hits him all at once, the realisation that the last ten years are coming to an end, that his period of bare bones survival is going to start shifting into something more active, something faster, something with significantly more intent behind it. After all, nobody tells you when the aftermath becomes just…after. Nobody can tell you when you’re going to feel safe enough to start living again.
or: Ten years after the world ended, Ed's running out of reasons to stay alive. Until one turns up on his literal doorstep, forcing him to reevaluate his definition of hope.
