Summary
Odysseus has returned to Ithaca, bringing with him a small boy, who to he introduces to Telamachus and Penelope as his adopted son: Astyanax.
After years of all of them dealing with their own monsters they have a long way to go before being a family.
Telemachus needs to leern to how trust his dad, be feel safe in his own home and be a big brother. Penelope needs to find her own place in the family Odysseus and Asdtyanax have built, and relearn how safety and suport feel like. Odysseus needs to figth the ghosts of his journey at the sea, learn to trust other people with the care of his son and accept that, despite feeling undeserving of it, his family still loves him. Astyanax needs to get used to his new busy home, learn how a loving family feels like, and understand that letting himself be a kid won't end in a didadter.

I wrote a little Astyanax lives AU, and that was goona to be it. Halfway through, I started wandering how Astyanax relationship with Telemachus would be, so I wrote a story about it...And I got exited, so I ended up making a work exploring the dynamics betwen this version of Ithaca's royal family.

Summary
Then, Fern feels her body leave the ground. She swings in the air for a few seconds and it feels like she's flying. It's nice, like she was a bird or maybe a butterfly, but it doesn't last long. Eventually, her body stays still. Two hands hold her from behind, one making a chair for her and the other pressing on her back, and a soft shoulder works as her pillow.
“Heiter?” The elf's voice says after a few steps, close to her ear. Fern feels like she isn't supposed to hear whatever she is about to say, but a part of her wants to.

As she is carried to bed on a chilly night, little Fern hears Frieren and Heiter talk. What she hears makes her see the man that saved her life under a different light, and awakes a new determination in her.

“Have you ever fallen in love?” Fern suddenly spouted, cutting her master mid-sentence.
Fern's body turned around after saying those words. The sound of the cracking bed expanding through the quiet bedroom. The young mage was now facing Frieren, her eyes perking up from the rumble of sheets still covering most of her body, looking at her expectantly as if she was about to reveal some fundamental truth about the world. Frieren couldn't help but think she looked awfully young, more than she had in years.
“I don't know.”

𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘐'𝘮 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘯.It's been almost ten years since the Trojan war ended, ten years since Odysseus disobeyed the King of Gods and spared a little boys life. He's been caring for the child as his own since then, sacrificing everything else for his well-being and protecting him from everything that may want to hurt him: monsters, unnatural storms, gods, his own comrades, and more recently the sick nymph that insist on calling herself his mother. He has began to doubt that his protection would ever be enough against her.
But now he's been given one last chance to get things right and keep his son safe safe by scaping the Island where they both had been traped for the last five years, surviving the trip across the sea and taking him to Ithaca. He knows it will be hard, but he can't afford to fail.

“Did you know how much I loved you?” he asks the bare room, and it is empty like Neil’s body is, like his eyes were as his father pulled him away, like the condolences of Mr Nolan.
Todd closes his eyes. Of course, Neil would have answered, of course I know.
