Jaskier ends a tiring performance with a drink only to wake up in a dark cell, bound and chained. He is alone save for the witcher confined to the cell next to him who won’t even share his name with Jaskier. Their captors want information he cannot give.
Betrayed by his own brother, Aiden has endured months of torture, so many days passing that he stopped keeping count. A new prisoner arrives just as he is losing hope of ever setting his feet upon the grass again. While no one came for him – such is the life of a witcher – perhaps someone cares about the bard enough to track down the madmen holding them hostage.

“My point is,” Lambert mutters before Geralt has a chance to open his mouth, “that love is a fucking idiotic concept, and that I’d rather die than be forced to feel my knees quiver and my lips break into a smile whenever I see him or whatever the fuck the ballads tell you is supposed to happen when you love someone.”
He uncorks a bottle and drinks straight from it.
Geralt blinks.
“But Jaskier isn’t a whore!” he mumbles. “He’s just… Very easy with his affections.”
“We know he is, Wolf. We know,” Eskel nods solemnly, patting the big man’s back.
Vesemir sighs again and exchanges a look with the only one of his sons who isn’t a complete idiot and drunk out of his mind.
They are both aware of the fact that no matter what he says and how much he hates the concept of love, a part of Lambert really wishes to find someone who could make him smile. (As opposed to Eskel, who has no problem with the concept of love, as long as it stays the fuck away from him personally, thank you very much.)
“Ssstupid,” Lambert hisses when he puts down the bottle. A second later, he slides down underneath the table and starts snoring.

Eskel searches the area some more, finds some blood flecks next to the beginning of the trail – not a lot, but enough to be concerned – and decides to start his climb immediately instead of lingering at the camp for the rest of the afternoon and the night and head into the mountains in the morning. With some luck, he'll reach the unlucky witcher on time to offer him some help.
Or Eskel happens upon an injured Aiden, takes care of him and discovers a few things along the way.

Seems easy enough, but Lambert knows better than to trust a faerie, and there's more at stake than he realizes.
If he's clever, and lucky, he might be able to save himself in more ways than one.

So Lambert made her swear there would be no other children found in her house, then, like a fool, he claimed the Law of Surprise: the first thing she saw when she got home. There were a few seconds of blissful silence and then the daughter started crying.
Turns out the family pet likes to greet the girl at the door.
But cats hate Witchers, don't they?
A story of how Lambert ends up looking after a cursed cat, helping a Witcher from a rival school retrieve his gear from angry mages, and maybe finds love along the way.

Summary
Sokka knew Fire Nation customs were weird, especially the customs surrounding royalty, but it seemed impossible for something like treating your sparring partner to be so outrageously out of Zuko's comfort zone. For Sokka, it was common sense, even if he'd grown up sparring with cloth bundles instead of real people. It was just the right thing to do. Maybe this wasn't even a Fire Nation thing, maybe it was a Zuko thing. After all, it was only recently that he'd even decided to join Team Avatar and hitch his hopes with the good guys. This might just be one of the many things that former villains had to learn – like smiling, or laughing in a way that didn't sound sharp and bladed. But looking at Zuko now, still staring at him, he had a good idea it was the former.

He’s being altogether too nice about this. It’s making Zuko feel vulnerable. He makes sure the next thing he says is a little colder.

Sokka’s eyes get harder. There it is. The fight he’s looking for. Hopefully Sokka will tell him off for his tone and then give it up. and then Zuko can spend a few hours pacing around with adrenaline and memories before he’s finally able to get any sleep.
