Malon nudged him, a teasing smile on her face. “Is my little Fairy Boy afraid of the big scary visitors?” she cooed.
Link’s face scrunched up and he stuck his tongue out. “Your perfectly competent Hero is not afraid of any visitors, though he does mourn the time he could have spent cuddling his wonderful wife if he wasn’t sent to go get the door.”
“You’ll be fine, dear,” she responded, patting him on the cheek consolingly.
Link sighed and walked to the door. He stared at it for a second and the visitor knocked again. He opened it. “Hi, welcome to Lon Lon-”
Zelda stared back.

Summary
100 years ago, a Princess and her Knight fought bravely against seemingly endless foes, the unearthed technology turned against them, corrupted, and destroyed much of the land. The Princess was able to conquer the fiends, with ancestral power flowing through her veins, yet she and her knight were unable to face the evil plaguing their dear land, as she collapsed from exhaustion and countless injuries, her body unresponsive, forcing her Knight to make a decision that would hopefully save her life.
Now, the Princess wakes, not a memory in her head, yet a lingering feeling that she has tread upon this land before.
In other words, a BotW role-reversal/swap AU where Zelda was placed in the Shrine of Resurrection rather than Link, who holds Calamity Ganon at bay.

“What name should I put on the cup?” He doesn’t have to ask it, she’s the only customer, but he just wants to know her name. He wants to know why she braved the cold at midnight just to come here and order a hot chocolate.
“My name’s Zelda.”
Zelda, Link repeats, mouthing it to himself. He nods, says aloud, “Nice to meet you, Zelda.”
Her eyes dip to his name tag, hanging crooked on his apron, and her smile widens. “You too, Link.”
OR
Link owns a coffee shop that's open twenty four hours. Zelda is the first insomniac to take advantage of it.
