Summary
Stagnation Syndrome: a progressive disease that occurs in uma musume. Symptoms include mood swings, depressive tendencies, headaches, rashes on the neck and legs, stomach aches, and in later stages, loss of circulation in legs. It is well documented in its causes and cures, but not in the mechanisms. While it can be fatal if left untreated, no Uma has perished from Stagnation in the past half a century. The early stages are easily reversible, and there are long running superstitions all over the world about the terrible misfortune that will befall a city inhospitable enough to let an Uma perish from stagnation.
Agnes Lucille, when she was a human man, studied it in order to be a better trainer. But after Tachyon’s experiment— Horse Replacement Therapy, she called it— she realizes the symptoms are much different when you’re the one experiencing them.
