Summary
Izuku Midoriya’s father is a Hou-ou — a Japanese phoenix.
For some reason, this means yokai have a standing invitation to pester Izuku with their existence. Birds assemble choirs for his birthday. If there’s no cedar leaf under the welcome mat, the amazake babaa that lives two apartments over will be knocking on their door by evening. His yokai-purifying excursions get mistaken for vigilantism far too often.
(What’s going on with All Might? Is Principle Nedzu a yokai? Tokoyami, could you please get Dark Shadow to stop calling me ‘my Lord’?)

Izuku Midoriya has been beaten down, abused, and bent to his limit, and after a traumatic injury almost breaks him, Izuku finds the resolve he needs to challenge the world that tried to destroy him. Using his knowledge of invention passed down to him from his father, Izuku decides to force the world to see his worth. To show them that you don't need a quirk to be worth it in this world.
Unfortunately, when you challenge the world, the world tends to fight back...

Summary

This is a rewrite of part one of my series, Two Sides of the Same Coin. It has extra background and does change the future of the story quite a bit.

Summary
Eating. A basic need, one ingrained into every being. To grind to dust that which once lived, to gain the strength it once had, and to infuse it into one’s core.
Consumption is a fundamental aspect of reality. Take in resources, transform them, and expel them. It’s normal, it’s natural, it’s the basis for thriving; without adequate food, the body consumes itself. Tears itself into shreds, finding every last scrap of energy needed to function.
So all sources of energy should be considered good.
But that’s not right.
Izuku knows that.
Or, he knows that now.Or, Izuku is born with a cannibal quirk. Things spiral out of control after he finally meets his idol.
