“Morning.”
“Afternoon, actually,” Beatrice says just because she knows it’ll make Ava smile. She gets her wish.
“C’mon,” Ava says, smoothly sliding from the bed to her feet, using their still joined hands to pull Beatrice with her. “You can tell me about traveling Europe while we eat”—she pauses dramatically; Beatrice braces herself for it—“I’m Hungary for some Turkey.”
Out of all things she could’ve said, this is what springs Beatrice into action, using her free hand to pull Ava by her waist until they’re chest to chest. She kisses the cheeky grin on Ava’s face; every time they do this, she thinks it’s better than the last.

Beatrice eventually goes back to the Alps to find herself; she finds her faith in Ava has never been misplaced.

For Beatrice, it all started that day. In the woods.
Not that she ever really believed she was "normal". She knew she was different — not in that generic way where people say “I'm weird, eh” just to give themselves a tone.
No. She was really different. From anyone.
And when the truth fell on her, it shat her... just.
Because, after all, at least now she finally had an explanation for that feeling that had always accompanied her:
The certainty of not belonging anywhere.
And that her life, sooner or later, would necessarily change.

Summary
Ava heard the Fulmination’s shrieks ahead as well as behind her now. They were encircling her, cutting her off. Any second, they would pour through the archways flanking the head of the chamber, their charred bodies rocky with divinium spines. Dozens of Fulminations self-destructing at once in a closed space would make the hail of divinium unavoidable. It would kill her, no matter how much the Halo tried to save her.
Ava reunites with Beatrice on the cusp of an apocalyptic war, injured and in need of help. But while her physical wounds are treated, it doesn't take long for both of them to realize that the other has been struggling to heal. Ava feels permanently altered by her experiences, and Beatrice is still bound to her past, unable to move forward from her pain. Maybe together, they can find the joy and passion that brings the other back to life.
