Dazai is used to the smell of blood, to watch it pool underneath bodies, to wash it off lest it dries under his nails and stains his clothes. It’s a job hazard. There’s no way around the gore, not in their business.
Under different circumstances, the sight before him wouldn’t have affected him – would’ve brought a smile onto his face, even. Made him laugh.
But he doesn’t feel like laughing now.
Not when those blue eyes, colder than ice, soften when they look at him.
“Odasaku…” he breathes out, horrified, held in the clutches of deep-rooted denial. His gaze darts from the man he’s come to call his friend to his Boss.
