Aemond Targaryen había sido el hijo del segundo matrimonio del Rey Viserys I, siendo su segundo hijo varón, alguien que no heredaría nada más que los traumas causados por su propia familia y el trono que tanto se peleaban. Aemond Targaryen nació y murió gracias al trono de hierro.
Aemond Targaryen fue concebido de forma escandalosa, un niño bastardo del Príncipe Daemon que fue adoptado por su segunda esposa, Laena Velaryon, como si fuese suyo y tomado por Lord Corlys y la Princesa Rhaenys como su primer nieto. Aemond Targaryen abrió sus ojos en una nueva vida, en los brazos de Laena Velaryon, y no supo si debía maldecir o agradecer a los dioses por darle tal misericordia.

It had been a cat once, small and soft, sharp and fierce. It had loved a girl called Amalia. It had wanted to protect her from everything, to be so close to her, to curl itself softly against her warm, unformed mind to keep her safe from everything. But someone had come to disturb them. Warden. Had lied to it, would not listen when it told them what it needed, what it wanted, told it that its Protection was Possession.
And then it was near a different mind, one that blazed, and it could feel the Fade closer. Healing. This one held the Fade in its hand. Its mind burned with Purpose, sharp like teeth. Sharp like claws. It wanted to Understand. It wanted to seize, digest, dissect. Consume. It desired to know. It knew itself, knew that it was sharp, vicious, like Kitty had learned to be because Wilhelm had thought so, the Warden that sang with the wrong song had thought so, and yet it chose not to be. Its mind felt so familiar, resonated with the song of the Fade. Ancient and new at the same time. Kitty wanted to help, protect this one who shone, and Kitty grew strong near it. Lavellan.

Aerion Brillant Targaryen n'a jamais connu la peur.
