The blonde blinked in surprised, caught off guard by Zoro’s unexpected question. His heart skipped a beat, and he gazed into Zoro’s eyes, searching for any hint of doubt or hesitation.
What he found was a deep sincerity, a vulnerability that Zoro rarely showed to anyone else.
“...Married?” Sanji repeated, his voice hushed by tinged with awe. He let the word hang in the air for a moment, savoring its weight and the promise it carried.
“What about you…? Have you… ever thought of getting married?” Sanji whispered, his face getting flushed.

So, he could handle it, he just had to avoid being discovered, so what if he’s been hiding from the cook, to stop him from noticing that something is wrong with him, so what if everyday his side hurts even more, it’s not like he’s dying.
That would be ridiculous.
Or
Zoro took a blade meant for Sanji, got hurt, didn’t say anything in holiday spirit and now has to deal with the consequences and Sanji is not upset that the mosshead is avoiding him, not at all.

Sanji would probably love his annoying dolt of a boyfriend more if he didn't sneak into his room at three in the morning just to give him a Christmas present they would have exchanged later that day regardless, but you can't win them all.(He's still definitely a winner, though.)

It was becoming ridiculous. The weights felt lighter, the sake tasted flatter, and the horizon kept blurring into the memory of a golden head under the galley lamps.
One of these days, the discipline would slip. The exhaustion or the adrenaline would catch him off guard, and his body would move before his pride could stop it. He would reach out, he would touch, and the truth would be laid out on the deck between them like a drawn blade.
And knowing that stubborn, beautiful idiot, he would never let Zoro hear the end of it. But as Zoro closed his eyes and listened to the distant, rhythmic chop of a kitchen knife from the deck below, he realized, with a grim and quiet certainty, that he might not even care.
