Summary
“How long do you think it’ll take?” Steve asks, eyes flickering over to the shoebox of materials. “Like, do you have to go over it a bunch of times to make the ink dark enough? We don’t need them that dark.”
“It doesn’t even need to be super straight or even or anything.” Robin adds. “Like don’t worry about making them perfect or anything.”
“Are you guys sure you want tattoos?” Eddie double-checks. These are just verbal confirmations of what he’s already picked up on from their twitchy body language and constant thrum of nervous energy. They’re scared. Which like, fair. But their nervousness gives him pause, makes him wonder why they’re going with commemorative tattoos of all things to remind themselves of the tragic end of their summer jobs.

Summary
The light is different.
That’s the first thing Eddie notices when Wayne wheels him out of the front doors of Hawkins General. He’s got two pints of Steve Harrington’s blood in him and four inches less long-intestine than he should and a hole where half the muscles of his left leg should be; all sorts of things are new and different and alarmingly changed but it’s the light he notices. He’s free, now, after all those long months of surgery after surgery after morphine-hazy nightmare and he should be overjoyed, should be flipping off his erstwhile prison and crowing his survival at the top of his lungs but the light is different and all he can do is stare.Or: Eddie comes back wrong.

Summary
Wayne looks down at the kid standing in the driveway.
He’s a little thing - Edward, the social worker had called him - dressed in ratty jeans and a baggy sweatshirt despite the overwhelming heat. He's feral, twitchy, hurt and hurting and Wayne loves him immediately, incredibly, irrevocably.
“You comin’ in?” Wayne asks knowing, in the soul of him, that this is gonna be the long haul and realizing he doesn’t mind, actually.
Eddie nods.
That’s how it starts.Or: Wayne's life from Eddie to Steve.

Summary
“It’s some young guy,” she said. “Or, like, not super young. Our age, I think. Maybe a little older? From out of town. Or he is now, but used to be from here.”
“What? Who is?”
“That bought the Radioshack. Turning it into a bookstore? Some guy,” Robin continued. “That’s why Vickie even knows. They were trying to keep it all hush-hush because he didn’t want to buy it without, like, zoning permissions so he could do a full scale remodel to turn it into a bookstore. Otherwise he didn’t see a point, or so Vickie said Mrs Wheeler said.”
Or: Steve owns a movie theater, and a bookstore moves in across the street.
